coming out exhibition

coming out exhibition the coming out exhibition is based in the Birmingham art gallery featuring the works of artists of varying gender and sexuality, expressing the joys and trials that come with expressing who they really are, showing a juxtaposition of love and hate. this exhibition follows the personal journeys of several artists from across the ages and the uk this exhibition improvers awareness for the lgbt community allowing other to see things from their perspective I was lucky enough to be born into a family that accepts me regardless of thigs like grades and sexuality however many were and still are oppressed by those who should be supporting them, being forced into solitude around those closest to them I personally not a fan of the vulgar nature of some of the work however it’s with these works that the strongest representation is created, though these the biggest impact is created with the most base and personal form of intimacy.

screen printing

this is one of my least favoured processes in art, mainly due to the mess and hassle that come with it. this process involves pressing a mesh screen against a surface and pressing paint through this mesh using a squeegee, despite my dislike for this process the final images almost always come out well and the process can be repeated several times using the   same screen. my dislike of this is the risk that the screens may be damaged if paint is left on too long, as a result you are forced to rush work and it can be hard to judge the amount of time before the paint dries. because of this I do not intend to use this method in my final outcome as it is a process I do not feel comfortable using to represent my theme.
